St. Augustine Beach Police Commander Thomas Ashlock was appointed on March 1, 2017. Commander Ashlock served for three years with the St. Augustine Beach Police Department prior to his appointment. Thomas graduated cum laude and as a distinguished military graduate from Saint Leo University with a bachelor’s degree in management and then earned a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University. Thomas is a graduate of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Executive Leadership Seminar class number five.
Thomas has held numerous leadership and command positions in his 14 years in the Army. Thomas first served six years on active duty and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 to 2005. Currently, Thomas is a Captain in the Florida National Guard and the Commander of the 221st Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Company located at Camp Blanding Florida.
