CHEKS Program

The mission of the C.H.E.K.S. program is to reduce criminal victimization of the elderly and to provide welfare checks both weekly and monthly. Staff members assist with coordinating senior services, addressing concerns or problems within the home, and coordinating local and state resources that are needed. Program members are added to the agencies frequent call checklist along with the senior watch order list. Each week a volunteer calls each program member to get an update on their status and to verify any needs they may have. Along with the weekly calls, occasionally program members receive will receive a home visit from a volunteer and sworn law enforcement officer. These home visits are performed to assess the members living conditions, detect any fraud that may be occurring, and provide any assistance the member may need.
